NYFW: Diesel Black Gold

For those of you living under a rock, it's currently New York Fashion Week (London starts Friday) Here is a picture backstage at Diesel Black Gold. The SS collection, the first collection designed by Sophia Kokosalaki is inspired by the West Coast of America and have a vintage feel with worn fabrics & sun-bleached fabrics. Good hair too.

Bag For Life

We love the high street for it's fast turnaround and innovative styles but sometimes it's great to discover a new brand that specialises in a certain product. Take Millican, In essence they are an outdoor brand but we think their new Matthew rucksack ticks all the AW trend boxes
& due to the attention to detail & quality materials it's bound to last for years to come.

Liberty's Latest Love

Anticipation is high for the Menswear shows next Wednesday as part of London Fashion Week featuring amongst others, J.W.Anderson, whose collection wowed us last season. You can now buy this range of accessories from Liberty which we are smitten with.
We have a lot of love for the love necklace.

Breakfast is Sorted

Today we've been sent a selection of goodies to promote Wolsey's Expedition collection which is inspired by the clothes the brand provided for the original expedition to the Antarctic in 1910.
A lovely gesture but even in the bleak wilderness we would refuse to eat Marmite.

Dr Martens World Domination Continues

Doc Martens are relatively easy to get hold of we know, you have your Office's & your Schuh's but nothing is more exciting than finding out your favourite brand is opening a stand alone store. DMs have done just that & opened their third in Leeds on King Edward Street where you can buy a wide selection of styles & colours (they don't just come in black y'know)
We also enjoy Shingai from the Noisettes look. Change the bustier for a vintage sweater & you've got yourself a pretty rocking AW look.

Lovely Thing

The model's questionable but we love this jumper from Humor. Good colour palette.
We hear it's been a big hit at Joy; one of Humor's stockists

Nicola's New Job

Nicola Formichetti. Fashion Director at Vogue Hommes Japan & Dazed & Confused, Senior Fashion Editor at Another Man, Fashion Consultant at Uniqlo, Levi's & Topman as well as stylist to a certain Ms Stefani Germanotta has now added yet another string to his bow, having been appointed as Creative Director at Theirry Mugler, overseeing Romain Kremer's designs for Menswear. & to think we used to see him at the Starbucks near our office ordering a Grande Soya Frapuccino.

TARDY WATCH

Look who we bumped into at the Diesel do in London last week, our old friend Tom Hardy sporting the aforementioned label, and looking mighty fine we might add. If only he could really walk into our dreams a la Inception...oh and anyone remember this?!... (name the month and year and send your name and address on a postcard to 'I want to finger Tardy' to Attitude Towers).

Wanted: Male Role Models

Ideally we would have a few pictures of male celebrities & what they wore to the VMAs but as they were mostly uninspiring (though Usher looked rather dapper)
here is Lady Gaga wearing a dress made of meat.

If You Leave Me Now...

Kim Jones, the creative director at Dunhill has stepped down after 2 and a half years at the brand to pursue other projects.
“I would like to thank all at dunhill, especially my creative team, for the last 2 ½ years and I am looking forward to announcing future projects shortly as well as publishing two books.”
We have loved how Kim reinvigorated the Dunhill brand and look forward to his next endeavor.

New Face: Simon Van Meervenne

Hot off the french press is Belgium based model Simon, who likes his extreme sports & is partial to a bit of bike-racing & rock-climbing.

Fashions Night Out 2010

Fashion's Night Out is now in it's second year and invites the public into London's finest stores for a madcap evening of shopping, boozing and schmoozing. To try to go to every store in would be impossible but we gave it our best shot, clocking up an impressive 10 stores in 3 hours. Moschino's event impressed. Inviting the public to pose in this shopping bag in the store window. We also enjoyed gin in a teacup (pictured)
Burberry was busy and featured an intimate gig with One Night Only's George Craig (who incidently models for Burberrys AW campaign) we scarpered swiftly after.
Louis Vuitton featured a photo booth where you could accessorise with hand made head pieces. The drinks were non-alcoholic (which we didn't discover until the 3rd)
(Left) Any fan of Maison Martin Margiela would have been in shock last night at the sight of the usually stark, minimalist store crammed with customers sipping white wine & picking from the impressively packed buffet. (Right) Gwyneth Paltrow was in Stella McCartney, this picture doesn't do justice to how busy Bruton Street was.
Christian Louboutin's Mount Street boutique dazzled with champagne & foie gras. We ooh-ed & ah-d at the men's shoes on display. Naturally.
The last port of call was DKNY whose Bond Street store was chock-full of fashionistas desperate for a moscow mule.
Well done everyone. Same again next year?

GOSH ITS WINDY TODAY

Miss Isabella Blow, may she rest in peace, is celebrated in this new Thames & Hudson book, forward by Philip Treacy of course and is apparently packed with 'anecdotes and breathtaking images'. Legend obvs.

They say No we say Yes

From up and coming label NON who have created a new collection named 'Alchemia Mysteria' the latin expression meaning (yes you've guessed it) 'Mystery of Alchemy'. Tony Spackman is the man behind it all; creative vision, patterns, sampling and photography. We love this image (despite the dodgy footwear!)

New Face: Jacob Dahlstrom

This lovely boy from Premier models is 21 and from Sweden. He plays piano, does karate, and love's british food especially shepherd's pie, and is a keen chef I'll have you know.

Reeeeewind!

This shoot took place around this time last year in Snowdonia for our January issue. We wanted the models to be frolicking barely clothed in the Welsh valleys but were conscious that as each week past the Indian summer was getting less so. The team travelled up by mini bus & stayed in a cabin for 2 nights. The shoot looked amazing in the end & we were really happy with the results.
(It's a shame some of the footwear didn't get off quite so lightly)

Super Fun Happy Slide!

80s Power Dressing

Those of you who caught This Is England '86 on Channel 4 this week may have been inspired by interesting fashions on display. We can tell you a lot of the wardrobe was sourced from Baracuta, a British brand with a rich heritage and a vast array of iconic pieces. To do your own spin on the look, take a Baracuta polo, add bleached skinny jeans and a pair of Doc Martins & hey presto! Like the 80s only better & without all those annoying miners strikes.

Something Shiny & New

Due to their technical abilities Ipad's require the same amount of protection as a new born baby. Happily brands have been quick off the mark with stylish solutions (though we do enjoy wrapping ours in a pashmina al a Carrie Bradshaw) We especially like these ones from Chris & Tibor, a London based design duo who met while consulting for Burberry.
True or False: You can now download Attitude to your Ipad?
Answer: True!

True Story

British actor Bill Nighy tapped Fashion Assistant Chris Hobbs on the shoulder today on London's Bond Street, told him he liked his horse print cardigan & asked where it was from.
The answer was H&M and £24.99

Lovely Thing

We love this from The Cambridge Satchel company at Paul Smith. Priced £99
It screams back to school (the idealistic version of school at least)

Bless

Apparently Kate Lanphear, Senior Style Editor at US Elle feeds interns pizza if they work late
& actually talks to them. Kate, we commend you but is this actually news?
We take all our interns to Pret & hug them at the end of the day.
(whether they like it or not)

Purple PR's Press Day

Autumn finally hits & the press move onto thoughts of Spring, that's how we roll.
We were invited to Purple PRs press day for a chance to have a look at the SS2011 collections that they look after.
Mihara Yasuhiro: We loved the metal adorned t-shirts, forest jackets (that jacket is actually sewn not printed) & a really cute jacket that if you look closer is cropped, you unzip and the shirt is attached to the bottom of the jacket. Innovation!
Enjoyed the bright giraffe print and this t-shirt courtesy of By Basi by Armand Basi
Lanvin's entire collection was gorgeous, we couldn't pick one thing. We were drawn to the accessories. Snakeskin clutch anyone? Or a choker? All fab.

Today Is Labour Day in the U.S.A

Which, if our vast knowledge of American culture is reliable
(namely from Serial Mom & Never Been Kissed) then after today we shouldn't
participate in the wearing of white.
Rory currently wears shorts from Tim Gold.
We will make sure he removes them forthwith.

A Stampede To The Fragrance Shop Ensues...

Remember when Chanel spent the GDP of Poland on a Chanel No5 advert? Well they've done it again, focusing this time on us guys for the Bleu De Chanel frangrance for men. Directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Gaspard Ulliel who is so hot he could melt steel
(which BTW is 1370°C)

Front Fashion: Navajo

As the season turns; layer up bright navajo prints with knits and boots.
Full shoot in our September issue.

Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of

Here's the delectable Frank Strachan, in New York shooting our top secret
December cover cover. He literally had to sell the shirt off his back to get there.

Divert Your Eyes From Rory's Chest for 5 Seconds

And appreciate these bags from Marc by Marc Jacobs. Available from
www.my-wardrobe.com priced at a very resonable £50.

Dot Dot Dash

Y Dash 3 is a bold new capsule collection from Y-3 (which is a diffusion line of Adidas, keep up!) featuring bold slogans on tees and hats. T-shirts retail at £60 and the bag which is our favourite is £80. We Enjoy. www.Y-3.com

Shoot: Aqua Viva

A fleeting glimpse of our underwear shoot for the September issue. Those pants are from M&S & have never looked hotter. Photography by Tomas Falmer. 'Styling' Frank Strachan.

In The News

We find it slightly offensive that the British press are using this outfit of William Hague's to illustrate his sexuality. We do not advocate any of this outfit. If anything it proves he is straight.

Last Nights Launches

Last night we attended the Esquire Best Dressed Real Men Awards in association with Harrods. You may be able to spot George Lamb there on the left. Tailor Richard James and designer Roland Mouret were also in attendance sipping mojitos and devouring salmon rostis. Our attire of shorts & Doc Martens stuck out somewhat in sea of suits.
We also went to Movida for the launch of FHM Collections AW edition which was slightly less formal & we drank cosmos. Our party had glitter, balloons & Kerry Katona. Just sayin'.

This could be the best collaboration of all time.

Tickets! Money! Passport!

The next Bank Holiday isn't until Christmas so Clarks latest promotion is a welcome relief. To co-incide with the re-release of their original desert boot (with jazzy vintage labels akin to an old suitcase) Clarks are offering customers who log into their site a chance to win £3500 worth of Trailfinders tickets with runners up getting their mitts on a pair of boots. www.originalsadventure.com
