Friends Of Fred pt 2

'Friends of Fred' launched earlier this year, inviting like-minded brands to join them in their Laurel stores, opening customers eyes to the other legions of mod influenced brands out there. This time around the brands getting involved are John Smedley, Garbstore and Alfred Sargent. & it all kicks off today.

Folds For Fred

Fred Perry is on a polo re-working roll at the moment, with their Peter Blake collaboration freshly on the shelves we turn our attention to their Origami Blank Canvas range.
The collection uses three authentic Japanese patterns that are regularly used in origami. Seen here is the polka dot & fan prints. There's also a very nice blossom print one too. fredperry.com

Peter Blake 4 Fred Perry

Who would have thought that a humble polo shirt could be re-worked in so many ways? Fred Perry clearly, who have collaborated with pop artist Sir Peter Blake on this sumptuous selection.
Loving the mod/60s/hippy influences. Get in there quick as there's only 100 available of each. fredperry.com

Stussy 4 Fred Perry

Loving the collaboration from Fred Perry & Stussy. Available from Laurel stores on the 18th February. A simple colour palette of white, red, black in sporty mesh fabrics with a definite 70s jock feel to it. They've also done bags which are extremely covetable.
Nick Bower, creative Director at Stussy says 'The Stussy Deluxe X Fred Perry collaboration combines American cultural references with 'London style' of an iconic brand'
& we tend to agree.

Tatts Out

We did a mini casting today & Conrad Leadley from Next came in. We had seen pictures of his tattoos but weren't sure whether they were real or not. We stripped him off to see.

Bread and Butter Berlin

Bread & Butter is an event that happens twice a year in Berlin & we were lucky enough to attend this season. A whole host of brands were representing from big denim brands such as Diesel & Wrangler through to smaller niche brands such as Gloverall & Grenson boots
(we'll be honest though there was quite a lot that didn't exactly woo us too)
The event happens in Berlin's old Templehoff airport which is pretty big space & all the brands have their own 'stalls' varying in size in direct relation to the size of the brand.
G-star's room was bigger than our office.
This picture doesn't exactly do it justice, outside it was cold & a bit bleak but inside it was a visual feast of AW trends.
Diesel took their theme of backstage at a gig & ran with it. The picture on the left is the entrance. the lights spelt out Diesel. Inside was dark & dingy & reminded us of The Astoria before they ripped it down. Sadface. Carl Marshall showed us round all the exciting things that Diesel are doing over the year. Carl had got boozy the night before in Soho House so fitted in nicely with the debauched rock star theme. That's dedication to your job!
This wall of jeans was impressive too, created for A.G jeans.
The denim was starched into shape. Mind boggling we think you'll agree.
If we went on any more the post would take up two pages, suffice to say it was very enlightening, we met a lot of interesting people & Berlin is a lot warmer in Summer!

Winter Injection

A phrase that we've just come across & we love, which basically means for people who bought their winter threads in August may need a pick me up before Spring clothes reach stores in about ooh 4 weeks. This is Fred Perry's which is a mix of heritage brands; Liberty print shirts, Alfred Sargent boots, Guernsey Wool sweaters and Brisbane Moss reefer jackets. We welcome the Winter Injection.
It sounds a bit dirty too.

Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry

It's a shame Amy Winehouse's range for Fred Perry didn't cover menswear as she looks as cute as a button here & back on form. We met her once. She was drunk.

It May Be Sunny Today...But One Day It Will Rain

That's why we need this Fred Perry fishing jacket. Made in collaboration with The British Millerian Co.Ltd. We heart it in yellow but if navy's more your bag then we support your choice.
