LFW Menswear Day: Omar Kashoura

NEWGEN had their own area at the front of Somerset House, overlooking the Thames. It would have been idyllic were it not for the sweltering heat. Each designer had their own 'stand' which were little beach huts. One of our favourite's was Omar Kashoura who hired a band to play dressed in his SS collection. We asked how he managed to find such a good looking band.
He told us it wasn't easy.

To add to the sweat fest, Katy Eary presented her collection on real life boxers & models.

We enjoyed the amount of flesh and leopard print on display.

LFW Menswear Day: James Long & J.W Anderson

Both designers showed their most accomplished collections yet, referencing Woodstock inspired collection. James Long's marbled and bleached patterns on toffee coloured leather mixed with Missoni style loose coloured knits in reds and greens styled with desert boots.

J.W Anderson's looked like a one of those shops in Camden where you buy your incense but in the best possible way mixing 70s colours with an early 90s grunge aesthetic. Tie-dye, dream catcher prints, loose short sleeve shirts in washed out shades of burgendy & sky blue, worn with chokers and chunky boots with crystals on the toes
(which were our number one lust item of the day, yours for a grand)

LFW Menswear Day: Christopher Shannon

We sat watching the Christopher Shannon show mentally picking out pieces we would buy which is a good sign of a show. White featured heavily with jumpers patchworked with mesh inserts, Camouflage tees in blues and greys with Camo written all over, block coloured shorts and shirts in shades of sorbet and fringed tassles hanging off shorts. Blu Cantrell's Breathe played.
We applauded.

LFW Menswear Day: Topman Design

Topman Design showed their collection in the grand setting of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Anyone expecting a face-off between front-rowers Ollie Murs and Joe McElderry were sorely disappointed as they hugged & sat down, no doubt questioning why they were there at all. We had the honour of sitting next to Barnaby Ash, Fashion Assistant at Shortlist magazine.
the show featured bright jumpers with prints of foxes & polaroid cameras. High-waistedness ruled & lumberjackesque jumpers were abundant.

LFW Menswear Day: Hardy Amies

Menswear day at the tail-end of London Fashion Week is always a good day for the Menswear press who up until now have had nothing to attend. By Wednesday morning most of Womenswear press had hotfooted it to Milan leaving us to reclaim Somerset House.
The day started with a very civilized breakfast at Simpsons in the Strand for Hardy Amies presentation. We nibbled on pastries and sipped our first coffee of the day while admiring the immaculate tailoring.
