Something we neglected to mention but we feel is exciting. At the James Long show last Wednesday during London Fashion Week, the footwear was in fact sponsored by River Island & are available to purchase now. The beige suede pair are £64.99 and the grey canvas a mere £29.99. So if your budget won't stretch to the rest of the collection at least your footwear will be fashion week certified. www.riverisland.com

Hell For Leather
Leather jackets look sure to be a big hitter this season with DSquared2 and Burberry both representing. We love this one from Lot 78, which stocks in Harvey Nichols & Matches as well as their own concept store on Ledbury Road in London. Created out of frustration at not being able to find the perfect fit we think they have succeeded. For the spendthrifts the calf-leather version costs a cool £1102 or the jersey version clocks in at a more affordable £250. www.lot78.com

Oh look it's Joe Stone from the Attitude office, formerly of barely seen t.v show Shipwrecked.
He models this lovely Topman horse tie for us as none of the fashion team were wearing a shirt. Yours for £14.

Lovely Thing For A Not So Lovely Day
These jeans are from Omar Kashoura (who you may remember we saw at NewGen last Wednesday) We love these jeans, they have a great Monetesque (must stop putting esque at the end of everything) print in lilac & for £299, it may sound steep but think of it this way. Some people invest in art. Fashion is art, ergo one must invest in fashion.

LFW Menswear Day: Omar Kashoura
NEWGEN had their own area at the front of Somerset House, overlooking the Thames. It would have been idyllic were it not for the sweltering heat. Each designer had their own 'stand' which were little beach huts. One of our favourite's was Omar Kashoura who hired a band to play dressed in his SS collection. We asked how he managed to find such a good looking band.
He told us it wasn't easy.

We enjoyed the amount of flesh and leopard print on display.

LFW Menswear Day: James Long & J.W Anderson
Both designers showed their most accomplished collections yet, referencing Woodstock inspired collection. James Long's marbled and bleached patterns on toffee coloured leather mixed with Missoni style loose coloured knits in reds and greens styled with desert boots.
J.W Anderson's looked like a one of those shops in Camden where you buy your incense but in the best possible way mixing 70s colours with an early 90s grunge aesthetic. Tie-dye, dream catcher prints, loose short sleeve shirts in washed out shades of burgendy & sky blue, worn with chokers and chunky boots with crystals on the toes

LFW Menswear Day: MAN
The MAN show (a collaboration between Topman and Fashion East) had a complete overhaul this season, showing a new breed of designers; Martine Rose, Felipe Rojas Llanos & New Power Studio. The highlight was hearing laughter travel through the room in a Mexican wave-like fashion. It wasn't until the model turned his back on us that we realised why. Good gimmick. Too cute.
LFW Menswear Day: Christopher Shannon
We sat watching the Christopher Shannon show mentally picking out pieces we would buy which is a good sign of a show. White featured heavily with jumpers patchworked with mesh inserts, Camouflage tees in blues and greys with Camo written all over, block coloured shorts and shirts in shades of sorbet and fringed tassles hanging off shorts. Blu Cantrell's Breathe played.
We applauded.

LFW Menswear Day: Topman Design
Topman Design showed their collection in the grand setting of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Anyone expecting a face-off between front-rowers Ollie Murs and Joe McElderry were sorely disappointed as they hugged & sat down, no doubt questioning why they were there at all. We had the honour of sitting next to Barnaby Ash, Fashion Assistant at Shortlist magazine.
the show featured bright jumpers with prints of foxes & polaroid cameras. High-waistedness ruled & lumberjackesque jumpers were abundant.
(some of these are not actual words but should be)

LFW Menswear Day: Hardy Amies
Menswear day at the tail-end of London Fashion Week is always a good day for the Menswear press who up until now have had nothing to attend. By Wednesday morning most of Womenswear press had hotfooted it to Milan leaving us to reclaim Somerset House.
The day started with a very civilized breakfast at Simpsons in the Strand for Hardy Amies presentation. We nibbled on pastries and sipped our first coffee of the day while admiring the immaculate tailoring.

LFW: Dolce & Gabbana with Naomi Campbell Party
Last night we attended a party thrown by Dolce & Gabbana to celebrate Naomi Campbell's 25 years in the business. T-shirts were on sale featuring pictures taken by an array of esteemed photographers from David La Chapelle to Helmut Lang. We thought they were free but they were actually £200.

American Vogue Editor & our saviour Anna Wintour spotted today front row at Alexander McQueen's memorial service at St Pauls this morning, with Nicole Farhi, Erdem & Christopher Kane. Frank Strachan, our Fashion Director, was in attendance and loved her speech & said Bjork singing Gloomy Sunday was amazing.

Our friend Henry Holland teamed up with Blackberry for a house party on Brick Lane in London on Saturday, and amongst the normal HH crew was of course Agyness Deyn and Nick Grimshaw (who we refuse to put on the blog until he finally COMES OUT!) things got a little fuzzy apres 10pm. Cheers Henry!

LFW: Diesel Party
The good thing about London Fashion Week is the menswear shows don't happen until Wednesday yet to we get to enjoy all the frivolity of the previous days (well, mostly nights)
Last night we drank cocktails at the Diesel store on New Bond Street in honour of their first collection with Sophia Kokosalaki.
Sexy Carl from Diesel Press doing what he does best hosting and...drinking!
We also found Spanish/Portuguese Angel (that's his real name), who runs the menswear department in this store, and I think we'll fast become regulars...
We also caught up with the duo that make up Jaiden RVA James, the new hot label that debuted last season and who were quickly snapped up by the likes of GAGA (Alejandro Video) and who also produce the magazine Rebel.

LFW: PPQ Party
Here is a picture of us waiting to get in. you could say we were in the PPQueue...!
Well it made us laugh.
They played old school hip-hop mostly which was good & we saw a lot of familiar faces grinding on the dancefloor. The venue itself was an interesting choice, a new hotel near by the London Eye and all the touristy stuff. We admired their choice of such a large venue but the room itself felt sort of clinical. It wasn't exactly Claridges. But then again what is?
The G&T's had no lime. Minus 1 point.

LFW: KATE MOSS PARTY
We had a ball at the Haunch of Venison gallery for the premier of Kate in 3D, succinctly entitled KM3D-1 by filmaker Baillie Walsh who last collaborated with Miss Moss in that amazing McQueen holographic film for his Autumn/Winter 2006 show.
We were witness to her reaction as (Swarovski) crystals came flying out into her face. Romy from the XX was DJing, cocktails were flowing (the pink stuff is beetroot foam) and of course what party would be complete without sexy Carl Marshall from Diesel (above right looking phenomenal).
LFW: KICK OFF WITH TIMBERLAND
We start off our LFW proceedings at the Wallpaper*/Timberland/Martine Rose collaboration and the collection is gorgeous- our pick pictured above- and so is (we must say) Ryan the PR. The designer herself is here captured with her mum and dad, check out his style!
LFW: J.W.Anderson
This surely is technology gone mad! Hot on the heels of Burberry's buy as you see initiative for their catwalk show, Oki-Ni.com will be streaming the J.W.Anderson show live on Wednesday where you'll be able to order straight from the catwalk with delivery in 2-4 days.

NYFW: Jeremy Scott SS 2011
The Jeremy Scott collection was shown yesterday in New York. We're enjoying the crop-tops, statement tees and plastic trenches but we're reserving judgment on leather chaps. We still haven't got the image out of our heads of old lady
Aguilera writhing around a sewer in them circa 2003.

The Fur Debate Purs On
Natalie Imbruglia (does she have an album out or something?) Has denounced fur to mark the beginning of London Fashion Week & has made an accompanying video telling of the suffering of animals in order to get their pelts.
We're sort of on the fence when it comes to fur to be honest. The editor's wholly against it. The fashion team, however believes a fox would probably skin you alive if it had half a chance.

Not Just Any Press Evening
O.K so that jokes so old now it will soon get a telegram from the Queen but we couldn't resist. Last night we attended a preview of Marks & Spencer's Mens accessories for AW at the Soho Hotel. We were impressed with what we saw, loved the Chelsea & brogue boots (which we were told on good authority were made in the same factory as Grenson boots & sell at half the price) as well as cashmere lined gloves & gorgeous satchels.
We also had the pleasure of meeting Micheal & Nick who we thought looked like characters from Mad Men in their M&S suits, and they were pretty happy with that.
Gold star!

Bag For Life
We love the high street for it's fast turnaround and innovative styles but sometimes it's great to discover a new brand that specialises in a certain product. Take Millican, In essence they are an outdoor brand but we think their new Matthew rucksack ticks all the AW trend boxes
& due to the attention to detail & quality materials it's bound to last for years to come.

Today we've been sent a selection of goodies to promote Wolsey's Expedition collection which is inspired by the clothes the brand provided for the original expedition to the Antarctic in 1910.
A lovely gesture but even in the bleak wilderness we would refuse to eat Marmite.
