Breakfast at The Savoy With Geri
The reasons for our attendance at Geri Halliwell & Next's swimwear launch was tenuous at best; We love Geri Halliwell & were fascinated to see what The Savoy looked like post it's £100million make over. In our eagerness we bagged ourselves top-notch seats, sitting amongst the creme de la creme of womenswear press, or at least the ones who wanted a free breakfast.
(which FYI was mini eggs benedict, bacon rolls & trays of pastries)
(which FYI was mini eggs benedict, bacon rolls & trays of pastries)
After a brief introduction from an enthusiastic compere the models paraded about in various states of undress, the words 'you'll look a million dollars' ringing in our heads.
We couldn't quite negotiate how a £30 boob tube would manage that but we were willing to suspend belief for this enjoyable hour.
We couldn't quite negotiate how a £30 boob tube would manage that but we were willing to suspend belief for this enjoyable hour.
At the end Geri (dressed in winter appropriate playsuit & espadrilles) gave a quick speech on how she wanted to dress real women or words to that effect (We were trying to catch the attention of the waiters by this point) The ensuing scrum to get a picture with Miss Halliwell was brilliant. Why a whole room of intelligent women & gays turn into screaming fans at the sight of an ex Spice Girl we will never quite understand. Clearly Next do.

Boys in Burberry at the SAGS
Ah awards season you do brighten up a January morning! first there were the Golden Globes, we still have the Baftas & Oscars to look forward to & last night was the Screen Actors Guild Awards in L.A. Douglas Booth & Andrew Garfield looked particularly dashing in Burberry. There were reports that Tom Hardy was there too. We will persevere in finding evidence.
Also props to Santana for snaring Douglas Booth. You go girl.

What Our Models Do In Their Own Time...
Kirtis Franklyn who we shot for lots of lovely things (see below), is a sprinter, training for the Olympics don't you know. Watch out Usain Bolt we know who we'll be screaming for.
Paris Fashion Week: Bernhard Willhelm
Though we are shocked by the amount of colour seen on the AW catwalks this season, nothing quite tops Bernhard Willhelm's collection for sheer craziness. In a weird way there seems little cohesion amongst the collection yet the combination of strech fabrics, stripes & sporty influences make it unmistakeably Willhelm. Love the parasols too.

Vivienne Westwood's New Store
We found this on Twitter as some nice person @'d us. We think it's very modern how you can find out information nowadays. Isn't it handy & stuff? Weird also that there was a time berfore You Tube. We digress. This is the new Vivienne Westwood store on Melrose Avenue which looks pretty swish & a bit seedy. We like.

New Online Shop Mini Rant
We love browsing the virtual aisles, fills a high proportion of our day. But what's with the items per page viewing options? Who in their right minds wants 142 shirt options separated into pages of 20? As if that's dead handy. Doesn't everyone universally want to VIEW ALL & scroll?

Such Fun!
Dr Martens have started to do satchels which is very exciting everyone! Made from the same leather as their 'Made In England' range & available in 5 covetable colours. We particularly like the cherry red one, would look fab with our duffel coats & black Dr Marten boots.
Only 300 of each colour have been made though so snap them up while you still can!

BStore For Baracuta
Fantastically hip Saville Row boutique BStore have collaborated with British heritage brand Baracuta on a capsule collection (fashion word decoded: capsule means mini) of three jackets, combining Baracuta's signature modish shapes with BStore's directional style.
We particularly enjoy the bleached denim harrington jacket.

Paris Fashion Week AW2011 Review Pt2
Raf Simons: The brightness was toned down slightly, mixed with the obligatory camels & blacks of Winter staples. Cropped duffel coats. Rounded shoulders.
Amazing magenta and indigo shades.
Amazing magenta and indigo shades.
Lanvin: lovely carpet. very plush. The bright colours we have seen so far have been dulled slightly. jewelled colours in ruby red, golds and emeralds. Exposed zips & raw edges among the Lanvin staples. Those hats scream Carmen Sandiego.

Paris Fashion Week AW2011 Review pt 1
Louis Vuitton: Orange & greys. Double breasted. Black starkness.
Kris Van Assche: Loose, angular suiting. Zips. A restrained palette of blacks, greys & caramel but this is AW after all.
Dior Homme: Also designed by Kris Van Assche & very nice it was too. Set in a stark white room with P.Diddy on the front row. Following on from the fluidity of the previous season but with added, thicker layers in cashmere. A hint of red & amish style hats.
John Galliano: Not as much flesh as we're accustomed to. A sort of modish, sixties Brit vibe with Beatles style hair & pea coats that descended into 'backstage at the theatre', nodding it's head at the current trend for ballet russian influences mixed with turbans & full make up.
Great coat on the right.
Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci: Took over an hour to start. Rottweiler prints. Brown check.
Love the shorts with tights, we're all over that already.

Bread and Butter Berlin
Bread & Butter is an event that happens twice a year in Berlin & we were lucky enough to attend this season. A whole host of brands were representing from big denim brands such as Diesel & Wrangler through to smaller niche brands such as Gloverall & Grenson boots
(we'll be honest though there was quite a lot that didn't exactly woo us too)
The event happens in Berlin's old Templehoff airport which is pretty big space & all the brands have their own 'stalls' varying in size in direct relation to the size of the brand.
G-star's room was bigger than our office.
This picture doesn't exactly do it justice, outside it was cold & a bit bleak but inside it was a visual feast of AW trends.
Diesel took their theme of backstage at a gig & ran with it. The picture on the left is the entrance. the lights spelt out Diesel. Inside was dark & dingy & reminded us of The Astoria before they ripped it down. Sadface. Carl Marshall showed us round all the exciting things that Diesel are doing over the year. Carl had got boozy the night before in Soho House so fitted in nicely with the debauched rock star theme. That's dedication to your job!
This wall of jeans was impressive too, created for A.G jeans.
The denim was starched into shape. Mind boggling we think you'll agree.
If we went on any more the post would take up two pages, suffice to say it was very enlightening, we met a lot of interesting people & Berlin is a lot warmer in Summer!
